Scott Flying Squirrel Additional Information

The frame and engine numbers put it as a 1937 vintage. To maximise ground clearance the lower frame rails have been removed and rear sets fitted as is the practice with this type of machine. The drum is machined from solid alloy billet with cast iron inserts. New stainless rims are fitted front and rear with new roadrider tyres. The gearbox has been upgraded with needle roller bearing to the high gear shaft and new ball bearings to the layshaft. The kick start has been removed to allow the rear sets to be fitted. The gear cluster fitted is medium close. An upgraded light action clutch release is fitted. The pilgrim pump is driven via a reduction gearbox so as to allow greater control over the feed rate. Feed is via clear nylon tube and pneumatic fittings so as the feed rate can be positively seen. The engine has been extensively worked on. It has Moss high strength cranks with bronze thrust rings and lip oil seals. Big ends are caged roller. Pistons are ported to allow clear gas flow around the little end. The inlet and transfer ports have been extensively worked on to improve gas flow. The inlet is fitted with twin 24mm concentric carbs bolted to a special splitter manifold. The atomisation of fuel is greatly improved over the 38mm single carb that would otherwise be fitted. Sparks are delivered from a new BTH electronic mag with coils fitted under the seat. The exhaust is professionally welded stainless routed under the centre line of the engine to give good ground clearance. The rear drum is machine from a cast finned drum to the TT design. The rear sprocket is easily removed to allow the size to be altered as required. Both petrol tank and radiator are sound with no leaks. In summary upgrades are Stainless rims, Moss front brake, Roadrider tyres, Electronic ignition, Twin new concentric carbs fitted, Reduction gearbox to oil pump, High compression head, Bespoke stainless exhaust, Moss high strength crank, Weighted flywheel, Heavily gas flowed, Caged big end, Lip oil seals to crank, Improved clutch release, Gearbox upgraded with needle roller bearing, Finned rear brake drum, Rear sets, My fervent hope is that I can pass this machine onto someone who will continue the process of development while riding it too its full potential.
